Explore the Chromatica Experience.

Actions and phrases kept on loop, growing thorns around my heart. Screaming at the empty wall, pretending that person is there.

A constant search for closure.

Voices clamoring — sincere, duplicitous; like navigating the streets of an unfamiliar city.

Who do you believe when you don't believe in yourself?

Sour Candy

Explore the Chromatica Experience.

A promised lie, a desperate opportunity — deception wrapped in a glossy veil.

She spins a sweet yarn, but the aftertaste is always bitter.

Eldegoss's Aromatherapy

Summer is in full swing, and Eldegoss is providing a brief respite from the heat to nearby friends.

(08/20)

This was started all the way back in December of 2019, but put off until spring or (as it ended up being) summer. Inking was completed in May 2020, coloring in July 2020, and the foreground petals were done now in August 2020.

The Grand Witch — Offering

Additional exploration of the Grand Witch character design. Further refining and adjusting details, and also experimenting with face and hair appearance — the latter is a side-part bang inside the collar, with a large ponytail that rests over and behind the collar. The exposed upper chest and shoulders now have a covering with segmented stones.

This piece was also an attempt to draw a more extreme perspective than I usually do.

The Grand Witch (Exploration)

First exploration of a character design concept.

Core aspects of design derived from this process:

1) Wide, floor-length, circular hoop skirt;
2) Wide-brimmed hat that approximately matches diameter of skirt;
3) Exaggerated shoulder pads;
4) Bell sleeves;
5) Large collar and concealed face, with only the upper-chest and neck easily visible when seen from head-on;
6) Black gloves with long, pointed nails.

Hurt and Heal

Sometimes, pain doesn't go away quickly.

Allow yourself and others time to heal.

(05/20)

I originally made this background back in September of 2019, for the first Spinel fanart I drew, but never ended up putting it to use; while working on this piece, I decided to add it here instead, as it felt appropriate.

Animal Crossing Villager Showcases

Showcases featuring 8 Animal Crossing villagers each.

From top to bottom and left to right, included villagers are…

Showcase 1: Whitney, Kyle, Hazel, Pierce; Lobo, Bella, Goldie, Alfonso.
Showcase 2: Kiki, Mott, Rosie, Walker; Rolf, Diva, Shep, Olivia.

Showcase 1 features 7 of my longstanding villagers, plus Hazel. (At the time of drawing, I couldn't remember which squirrel villager I'd originally kept in Wild World, and confused Sally with Hazel; Sally will get her own piece outside the showcases later on.) Side decorations are the four seasons, and a Nook-branded sailboat at sea.

Showcase 2 features 8 random villagers I happen to like, including one or two I've had in different games. Side decorations are the four categories for the New Horizons museum (as of April), and an island horizon.

(Showcase 1 originally completed 03/20; Showcase 2 originally completed 04/20.)

Jack-o'-Wisp

Small, nocturnal sprites that haunt candles and candlesticks. They prefer occupying abandoned housing, and their eerie glows have inspired many tales of deceased tenants unable to move on to the afterlife.

Seeing Triple

Back in January, I started drawing Shantae on a whim. It was originally finished in February, then in April I flat-colored Shantae herself to see how it compared to only having her hair and pants have a gradient color; I think I prefer this version.

The overall design took elements from a few of Shantae's incarnations, primarily Half-Genie Hero and Pirate's Curse.

Aberrant Fugue

Shapeless beings that exist on the peripheral of reality. If the barrier separating dimensions is weakened in a location, they will manifest en masse due to curiosity. They are non-hostile by default, and incredibly skilled at understanding communication.

As they live on a separate plane, they do not have need for a physically-discernible form as we know it; however, to avoid overloading the senses of creatures that exist in our dimension, they adapt their appearance to what the mind of their observer will best be able to understand, and associate with them. If that observer has a preconceived notion of what an aberrant fugue looks like, they will take on that appearance.

Their current appearance is due to the form they manifested from one man, who went on to describe and have said appearance illustrated. This interpretation spread more wildly than any before it, and became an accidental standard for the aberrant fugues to use.

Sentinel Waif

Sentinel waifs are artificial, humanoid constructs employed by the Cult of Sight to guard key premises. They are overseen primarily by Molligarsh when active, but any agent of sufficient rank can command them, including remotely.

The primary benefits of sentinel waifs are their ability to move quickly without making sound, and that their inorganic nature allows them to remain absolutely stationary at a designated post for months without interruption. Buildings occupied by the Cult of Sight tend to have a mixture of sentinel waifs and unanimated replicas scattered about in clusters, in order to confuse intruders.

Combatively, sentinel waifs mostly rely on attempting to abruptly tackle and subdue opponents through sheer numbers, but they also possess limited magical powers.

For unknown reasons, they are visually modeled after a historic art piece depicting the "Forlorn Nun," of similarly ambiguous origins and meaning.

Wizard Wisps

A pair of spellcaster sprites, relatives of the hatty sprites. Wisps of this nature typically possess multiple objects simultaneously to form their disguises, and, like their cousins, heavily alter those components as they like. Wizard wisps tend to focus their modifications and decorations on their cloaks more than their hats, however.

(Originally completed 07/19.)
